MISA Tanzania Membership

As a MISA Tanzania member, you are expected to join and support the organisation in advocating for freedom of expression, freedom of the media and the right to information in Tanzania.

Who can become a MISA Tanzania member?

We have two membership categories:

  • Individual membership
    This is open to any person working for a private, commercial, community or public media organisation with an office in Tanzania. Journalists and other media professionals working with, or for, the government can also become individual members.
    Annual fee: TZS 50,000
  • Institutional membership
    This is open to independent media outlets, media training institutions and organisations (both public or private), and journalist associations. Civil society organisations and trade unions advocating for freedom of expression and the right to information may also become institutional members.
    Annual fee: TZS 200,000

An additional one-off registration fee of TZS 10,000 is charged for first-time applications. This applies to both institutions and individuals.

 

How do I become a member?

You need to fill in a membership application form. You can collect one from our office in Dar es Salaam at Kinondoni Mkwajuni (along Kawawa Road) or download the form as a PDF here

Drop the completed form back at the office or email a scanned copy to misatanzania@gmail.com.

We will check that you meet the membership requirements and will inform you as soon as possible whether your application was successful. You will then need to pay the fee to complete your membership.

 

How can I pay the membership fee?

You can pay either at the bank or M-Pesa.
